{"id":14622,"date":"2024-03-16T10:19:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-16T09:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/wta-unisol.com\/development-of-a-gravity-driven-membrane-cleaning-system-for-gray-water-and-partial-flows\/"},"modified":"2026-02-10T14:33:34","modified_gmt":"2026-02-10T13:33:34","slug":"development-of-a-gravity-driven-membrane-cleaning-system-for-gray-water-and-partial-flows","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/wta-unisol.com\/en\/development-of-a-gravity-driven-membrane-cleaning-system-for-gray-water-and-partial-flows\/","title":{"rendered":"Development of a gravity-driven membrane purification system for graywater and partial flows"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">An omnipresent challenge in filtration tasks is the formation of layers on the membranes that can impede the filtration flow.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The MeSRa project represents a completely new approach in that the MBR principle for wastewater treatment is to be further developed into the special process of a &#8220;Biologically Activated Membrane Bioreactor&#8221; (BAMBi).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here, the formation of a biomass layer on the membranes is not only accepted, but actively promoted in order to build up an efficient biofilm that offers sufficient biological activity and capacity. This means that the small quantities of pollutants in the greywater can be converted without additional measures such as aerobic or anaerobic activation, aeration or circulation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In the event of pollutant peaks, these are to be buffered by adsorbers located in the immediate vicinity of the biofilms and released again during periods of low pollution.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The sub-project, which is being carried out by WTA UNISOL, is based on the <a href=\"https:\/\/wta-unisol.com\/en\/products\/mytex-h4l-membrane-units\/\">MYTEX H4L membrane system<\/a> and is developing it further specifically for the intended application.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><strong>The focus of the work is on :<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the optimization of the membrane material,  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the selection of suitable adsorber materials with regard to base material, particle size, fixing method and spatial arrangement,  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the adaptation of the membrane system and  <\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the production of the prototypes.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Due to the gravity operation of the membranes and the lack of cross-flow, the energy requirement is reduced to a minimum, while at the same time the membrane load is low.
