Could you give us an overview of UNISOL’s activities in China?
UNISOL is an integrated manufacturer of membranes and membrane modules. In our highly automated production facility in Xiamen, China, we produce flat sheet membranes, spiral wound modules, as well as DT/ST modules. In particular, we are one of the largest producers of DT/ST modules in China. These modules are used in a wide range of industries worldwide – from water treatment to food production, automotive manufacturing, and wastewater treatment. Our production capacity of 8,000 square meters, along with our automated processes, allows us to remain competitive on a global scale by offering products that meet the highest quality standards while being cost-efficient.
What is the significance of German quality for your company in China, and what benefits does it bring to your customers? What challenges do you face in production in China?
German quality is at the core of our company’s philosophy, even in our production in China. For us, it is essential to maintain the high standards associated with “Made in Germany.” Our customers expect this reliability, and by manufacturing in China, we combine this quality with the cost advantages the location offers. The result is a high-quality product at competitive prices. One of the biggest challenges in China, however, is finding and retaining qualified personnel in the long term. We address this challenge by creating a work environment where our employees feel valued and can develop. Our corporate culture places great emphasis on continuous improvement, both in production processes and in material handling. In such a dynamic market as China, it is crucial to remain flexible and implement innovations quickly. At the same time, we see opportunities in this change: through strong automation and the continuous optimization of our processes, we have earned the right to grow in this market. Our goal is to further strengthen our position both in China and internationally.
What role does automation play in your production?
Automation is a key part of our production strategy. Particularly with the DT RO modules, we rely on fully automated processes that almost completely eliminate the human factor, minimizing sources of error. Machines work precisely according to the specified parameters, which leads to consistently high product quality and reduced waste. This means fewer reworks for us, and thus lower costs. Despite the automation, we continue to conduct strict quality control, with each product undergoing a full functional test. This approach combines the benefits of automation with the assurance that our customers receive only flawless products. This allows us to ensure both quality and efficiency, which is crucial in a highly competitive market.
