What challenges did you face when designing the new MYTEX H5L membrane modules?
“The biggest challenge was to maintain the proven success concept of the MYTEX membrane modules while setting new standards in flexibility and modularity. The H5L modules are fully configurable so that they can be customized for a wide range of applications. Whatever the size or dimensions of the membrane area, the modular approach enables solutions that are tailored to our customers’ exact requirements. This concept ensures that the modules are efficient, sustainable and economical at the same time.”

 

Was particular emphasis placed on ease of maintenance during development?
“Absolutely. Ease of maintenance was at the centre of the design right from the start. MYTEX modules are designed in such a way that the upper and lower frames are easy to separate. This makes access to the individual levels much easier. Added to this are the double dovetails, which enable easy assembly and disassembly of the block levels. All of this saves time and costs during maintenance and ensures that our customers can enjoy smooth processes.”

 

Did the fully automated production line for manufacturing the H5L modules need to be adapted?
“Interestingly, this was not necessary. The modular block design of the MYTEX modules is so well thought out that it could be seamlessly integrated into our existing production line. Our quality assurance also ensures that every module is subjected to strict tests before it leaves the factory. This is a key quality feature of WTA UNISOL and emphasises our commitment to the highest standards.”

 

What are the challenges when transporting the H5L modules?
“The modularity of the MYTEX modules also comes into play here. The H5L modules can easily be transported in a partially assembled state, which simplifies the logistics considerably. In addition, we offer our customers training courses or provide specialists to assist with final assembly, installation and commissioning on site. This service concept enables us to ensure a seamless transition from the factory to commissioning at the customer’s premises.”

 

Finally, please explain to us: What makes the H5L membrane modules special?
“The combination of modularity, sustainability and ease of maintenance makes the MYTEX H5L membrane modules unique. They fulfil the highest requirements, are economical to operate and set standards in wastewater treatment. We are proud to be able to offer a solution with these modules that meets both current and future challenges in water treatment.”

 

Mr. Gülland, with your newly developed PFAS-free membrane, you are setting a new standard in water treatment. Why is it so crucial to develop PFAS-free alternatives, and how does your technology contribute to a sustainable future for the industry?
“The development of PFAS-free alternatives is essential because conventional PVDF-based membranes significantly contribute to environmental pollution due to their carbon-fluorine bonds and are potentially harmful to health. With the planned PFAS ban in Europe, the pressure on the industry to find more environmentally friendly solutions is increasing. Our PFAS-free membrane is a real milestone that demonstrates how efficiency and sustainability can go hand in hand. By using polyethersulfone (PES), a material already proven in sensitive industries such as baby products, we offer a durable, chemically stable, and heat-resistant alternative. This provides a future-proof solution that protects both the environment and human health, opening new opportunities for the entire industry.”
